An axe with a metal blade was a quantum leap forward in the arsenal of useful tools. It revolutionized the processing of combustible materials, providing fuel for fires that would burn hot and long into cold winter nights. It meant building shelter from the wind and rain. It was a crude yet effective weapon in times of self defense. This impeccably detailed hatchet pendant is our ode to this tool and all it enabled.
OUR CREATION PROCESS: This design was meticulously carved by hand from jewelers wax and cast by hand using the sand casting method. Molten 925 Sterling Silver is poured into a wax flask filled with fine sand. The rough ax casting is then finished by hand and given an oxidized patina finish. The silver is polished and protected with professional jewelers wax to help slow tarnishing. The clasp of the chain is hand formed and hammered from 16 gauge silver wire.
Basically it's an entire creation process without machines, mass production or electric tools. Each pendant is made one by one from start to finish with an incredible amount of time and detail.
